A Year of Drone Adventures and My First AI‑Generated Soundtrack
Some projects start simple… and then turn into something unexpectedly fun. That’s exactly what happened with this one. I’ve always admired fellow drone pilots who create their own soundtracks for their videos, and this year I finally decided to give it a try myself. A big thank‑you goes out to JJ Grant, Jason Crowder, and Tom Dowling — their work lit the spark that pushed me to experiment with music in a whole new way.
This video is a small sampling of my drone adventures from the past year, flying under the name VegasDigital Eye 4U. From wide desert landscapes to city lights and everything in between, these flights have become a creative outlet I didn’t even know I needed. But this time, I wanted to take it a step further. I wanted the soundtrack to be mine — not borrowed, not licensed — but something created from scratch.
That’s where AI stepped in.
Turning Lyrics Into Music: My Workflow With Freebeat.ai and Suno.com
Freebeat.ai — Turning Ideas Into Lyrics
I started with a handful of lyric ideas — nothing polished, just raw thoughts and phrases inspired by flying, freedom, and the feeling of being up above the world. I dropped those into Freebeat.ai, a tool designed to help shape rough concepts into usable lyrics. Freebeat.ai gave me several variations to choose from. It refined the structure, suggested rhythm-friendly lines, and helped turn my scattered ideas into something that actually resembled a song. It wasn’t writing for me — it was more like having a creative assistant who could instantly generate alternate takes, phrasing options, and stylistic tweaks.
Suno.com — AI Music That Actually Surprised Me
Once I had lyrics I liked, I moved over to Suno.com, and this is where things really got interesting. Suno takes text — lyrics, mood descriptions, style notes — and turns them into a fully produced music track with vocals. Not robotic vocals, not placeholder melodies… but actual music that sounds like it came from a studio session. I was honestly amazed at how good the results were.
I fed Suno the lyrics Freebeat helped me shape, selected a general style, and let it work. Within minutes, I had multiple versions of the same song — different voices, different arrangements, different moods. It felt like collaborating with a team of musicians who never get tired and never run out of ideas.
The final track in the video is 100% AI‑generated: my lyrics + Suno’s music + Suno’s vocals = a brand‑new soundtrack created from scratch. I also recognize that the AI generated product is not entirely brand new as AI takes a sampling of all that is out there and uses that to generate not actually create something new.
A Memorial Day Spent Remembering and Creating
This entire project became my Memorial Day 2026 — a day of remembrance, reflection, and creative energy. There was something meaningful about honoring the day by creating something new, something personal, something that blended technology, art, and the joy of flight.
And now… the creative juices are officially in full gear. Ha Ha!
What started as a simple idea turned into a full creative loop: inspiration → lyrics → AI tools → music → drone footage → final video.
It reminded me why I love this craft — the freedom to explore, experiment, and build something that didn’t exist yesterday.
